Speaking of awards ...

Winning or being a finalist in a creditable book award can be an important boost to the general awareness and profile for your book. Keep an eye out EVERY MONTH for awards relevant to your book genre and ensure that your book is entered well before the closing date. A great resource for tracking down the right award to enter and to find who’s winning what, iswww.literaryawards.com.au.

The Australian Writer’s Marketplace (book and online) provides a calendar of major Australian book awards which is a very handy reference you can check each month. It also lists writer's festivals and workshops which can be wonderful opportunities to network.

If your book is in the children's genre consider The Children’s Book Council Book of the Year Awards.
This very prestigious award is a must for writers of children’s books. Although the cut off date to enter the 2011 awards is December 31st, 2010, you should submit your entry as early as possible (NOW!) to allow the maximum time for your book to be assessed. Further details are available at www.cbca.org.au/awards.htm.
