Keira Rathbone – Typewriter Artist

One of the slightly older members of our team, Ken Lambert, fondly remembers the days of hot lead and ‘old fashioned’ typesetting by compositors (as we all know, the origin of ‘lower case’ and ‘upper case’ in typography comes from the locations of type pieces in the compositors’ shallow wooden cases).

I think Ken would love this young lady. In today’s digital age, British artist Keira Rathbone creates works of art of all types (pardon the pun!) using a typewriter. Not just one typewriter – Keira has over 30 of different ages and origins to help create her unique works.

Definitely quirky but very popular and rightly so when you look at the work she produces. We love it. Who said the typewriter is dead?
