ALIA Summer Reading Club
ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association) has launched the website for the 2010/2011 Summer Reading Club. Most public libraries throughout Australia participate in Summer Reading Clubs and holiday activities for children aged five years and older and their families over the summer break. This is a great way to reach young readers and get involved with your local libraries.

The website can be found at www.summerreadingclub.org.auand just click on the Planning Wiki. The theme is Scare Up a Good Book and some of the topics include: wildlife, halloween, witches, vampire stories, monster stories, scary fairy stories, campfire tales, villains, ancient Egyptian mummies, haunted house, mad scientists, aliens and UFOs and robots. If you have written a children’s book which suits any of the above topics, have a chat with your local librarian to organise a reading. Maybe you could convince your husband/wife/son/daughter to dress up as a vampire/villain or mad scientist to go with your reading! Although, summer seems a long time away, the best time to plan these things is NOW – before someone else pinches all the good spots! |
